Winemaker's Notes

The Gravity Red Blend is named for a remote, hard-to-reach block on the Monte Rosso Vineyard. Its location on the edge of a canyon and its steepness produces grapes with exceptional intensity. Five varieties—Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache—create a vivid expression of the power and depth of the vineyard.

This dark, dense wine is layered with black cherry, plum and blackberry tones and hints of cocoa powder and coffee. The full-body and luscious mouthfeel are framed by assertive tannins and a long, concentrated finish with truffle, caramel and toasty oak.

Here is a testament to good-quality, California-appellated wines. This red blend opens with immediate aromas of fresh violets, plump black cherry, black currant, chocolate, tarragon, fennel and toasted wood. The palate mirrors those aromatics, but they jump with vivacity from the solid dose of acidity and generous alcohol. Firm tannic texture adds structural integrity, leading toward a fairly lengthy finish.

Wine Spectator Review - Rated 91:
Ripe and gutsy, with a dense core of tannins framed by blackberry and currant flavors. Reveals espresso, cracked pepper and grilled anise accents that finish with tannic grip. Hands off for now. Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Syrah, Sangiovese, Viognier, Grenache and Malbec. Best from 2025 through 2031.
